Storage guidelines
PLEASE DO NOT STORE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
- Animals or other live creatures
- Corrosive, inflammable, or radioactive materials
- Perishable food or other items
- Explosives, to include fireworks and flares
- Bottled gas
- Petrol
- Any other hazardous or illegal substances
General storage hints
- Fuel tanks should be drained, e.g. lawnmowers, motorcycles, etc
- Fridges and freezers should be thoroughly cleaned and stored with
the door ajar
- Cookers should be thoroughly cleaned with loose parts boxed and labelled
- Clothing and linen should be stored in boxes or suitcases. Items that
require hanging can be stored in wardrobe boxes. We have boxes & wardrobe boxes
available
- Metal tools should be cleaned, then wiped with a few drops of engine oil
- Electronic goods, i.e. DVD players, TV's etc should be allowed to
adjust to the ambient air humidity & temperature for a few hours prior to re-use
Loading your storage unit
- It's desirable to leave a small space between your goods and the wall
to assist with ventilation
- Please do not lean heavy items on the partition walls. They are not
load bearing
- Stack items using the same size boxes with the correct strength required.
This will prevent them from toppling
- Mirrors and pictures should be stored upright to prevent breakages
- Heavy items should be placed in small boxes to avoid heavy lifting
- Store items you may need close to the door
- Furniture should be covered for protection and cleanliness. We have
dust, chair, sofa, and mattress covers available
- When lifting your goods, use the proper technique and lift with your
legs not your back to avoid back strain
