Storage guidelines

PLEASE DO NOT STORE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  1. Animals or other live creatures
  2. Corrosive, inflammable, or radioactive materials
  3. Perishable food or other items
  4. Explosives, to include fireworks and flares
  5. Bottled gas
  6. Petrol
  7. Any other hazardous or illegal substances

General storage hints

  1. Fuel tanks should be drained, e.g. lawnmowers, motorcycles, etc
  2. Fridges and freezers should be thoroughly cleaned and stored with the door ajar
  3. Cookers should be thoroughly cleaned with loose parts boxed and labelled
  4. Clothing and linen should be stored in boxes or suitcases. Items that require hanging can be stored in wardrobe boxes. We have boxes & wardrobe boxes available
  5. Metal tools should be cleaned, then wiped with a few drops of engine oil
  6. Electronic goods, i.e. DVD players, TV's etc should be allowed to adjust to the ambient air humidity & temperature for a few hours prior to re-use

Loading your storage unit

  1. It's desirable to leave a small space between your goods and the wall to assist with ventilation
  2. Please do not lean heavy items on the partition walls. They are not load bearing
  3. Stack items using the same size boxes with the correct strength required. This will prevent them from toppling
  4. Mirrors and pictures should be stored upright to prevent breakages
  5. Heavy items should be placed in small boxes to avoid heavy lifting
  6. Store items you may need close to the door
  7. Furniture should be covered for protection and cleanliness. We have dust, chair, sofa, and mattress covers available
  8. When lifting your goods, use the proper technique and lift with your legs not your back to avoid back strain
